Summer is quickly approaching and with that in mind I decided to get a few items for a summer fun box. I wanted to have a handy box with activities that were easy to pull out when I needed them for my two year old.
My mission was to purchase all the items I would need for the box from my local dollar store. Ive been making a list and finally decided to get the materials together.
I wish I could remember which sites I got the ideas from but if you google activities for your child’s age the lists are endless.
Perhaps your box would include different items according to your child’s age but the concept is the same. I think this is a great way to keep the kids busy and happy during the summer months and even all through the year.
The dollar store is a great place to go to begin building the activity box. Target also has a great dollar section. The key is to be patient and to keep your eyes open at every store you visit.
Equipped with a list and a sleepy baby in the car, not to worry the husband was waiting in the car with her, I hit the aisles of dollar heaven.
Unfortunately, my dollar store did not get the memo that I wanted summer items. As a result, my beautifully crafted list had to be altered a bit. I wanted outdoor activities but for those of us in the hotter regions indoor activities are equally important. Throughout this post you’ll see a few of my finds from the dollar store.
The activity box is a work in progress and some of my finds were not as successful as others. Overall, I am so glad I started this box.
If my toddler gets cranky or I need to keep her busy to finish a task, out comes the handy box.
I would love to hear some ideas you use or plan to use to keep your kids busy.
